SCA Alums Competing in 2010 NCAA Tournament

Three SCA alumnae will be participating in the NCAA Division II soccer championship tournament beginning November 11.  Rebecca Mateo and Kiera Woerner, who play for Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, will be playing Lenoir-Rhyne in Columbus, Georgia. Kara Cunningham, who plays for San Francisco State University, will be playing UC San Diego in Laie, Hawaii. All three girls played for the SCA 90 Girls and graduated in 2008.  The college season is wrapping up now for all of the girls who represent SCA at their respective colleges.  For more college news, please read on. 

Rebecca Mateo  received All-Conference honors this season at Belmont Abbey and Kiera Woerner was named to the Conference All-Tournament team.  Seeing action at UC Santa Barbara this season were SCA alums Alyssa Benjamin, a 3rd year starting defender and Taylor Gehring who competed in her 1st year. Alyssa also earned All-Big West Conference honors this season.  Playing at Cal State Dominguez were Colleen McNamee, Natalee Simon, and Kayley EvanLexus Humphrey and Anika Lindemuth played forward for Dominican University this season. Megan Kendall was a starting defender in her 3rd season at Humboldt State. Melissa Madrid is a standout at Barry University and received All-Conference honors. Kristen Holmberg is a standout defender at UC Davis. Danielle Stave is also a starting defender playing at Southern Oregon University. Playing for Loyola Marymount this season was Lizzie Mitchell and McKenna Moy played for St. Mary’s College.  Congratulations to all of these collegiate athletes!
