Barry University and UC Santa Cruz Coaches Host Clinic for SCA 94 and 95 Girl's Teams

The SCA 94 and 95 girls teams were invited to a clinic this week with former SCA coaches Josh Schelhorse and Fred Jungeman, who after serving as assistant coaches at SSU, are now head women’s coaches at the college level.

The clinic for the 95 girls, coached by Trisha Ziemer, was led by Schelhorse, head of the UC Santa Cruz, which competes at the NCAA Division III level.  "It was a great experience for the girls, most of which are considering or interested in playing at the college level," siad coach Trisha.  "Josh ran a great session and it was good for the girls to ahve the chance to work with him and get a better feel for what is expected to compete at the college level.  Josh once coached the SCA 90 girls who currently have 7 players competing at the college level.

The clinic for the 94 girls, coached by Vinnie Cortezzo, was led by  Jungemnan, head coach of Barry University in Florida, which competes at the NCAA Division II level.  Former SCA and Casa Grande standout Melissa Madrid playes for the Bucs and was named Freshman of the Year and All-South Region this past fall after scoring a team high of 12 goals.  For more information about their respective programs, please visit www.goslugs. com and www.barry.edu.
