The SCA 96 Girls came out as champions at the Davis Legacy College Showcase July 9th-11th. The team had a fantastic weekend with only one goal scored against the team in 5 games. They started the tournament with a 5-0 win against the home team – Davis Legacy. Goals were scored by Lizzie Woerner,Katie Bipes, and a hat trick by Mimi Gallo. SCA won the next game 9-0 playing Sonoma United. Goals by Gallo, Paulina Lorenc, Kaylee Castro, Woerner, Jaclynn Burggraf, Selena Mogannam and a hat trick for Taylor Ziemer. The following day another victory against Diablo FC: 4-0. Goals by Woerner, Mogannam, Bipes and Shelby Evenich. The fourth game in scorching hot conditions ended in a 2-1 win for SCA against LaMorinda United. Goals by Ziemer and Bipes. This series of wins brought SCA to the final game on Sunday against Diablo FC. After a small opening ceremony and the World Cup soccer final on their minds, the SCA team won 2-0 with goals by Taylor Ziemer and Mimi Gallo. The team, coached by Ralph Montes, was presented with a championship trophy and t-shirts. Congratulations to the team including goalie Madalyn Thomas, Kayla Kimball, Bella Santia, Emily Sewall, Emily Welter, Emily Panacci, Claire Wilson, Sophia, Payne, Kelsey Greenwood, Rebecca Benjamin, Lia Vonderahe, Erica Payor, and Alexia Martinez, and a big thank you to the guest players from the younger teams – Shelby Evenich, Lizzie Woerner and Taylor Ziemer.
