SCA Board Elections 2006
Tuesday, 15 November 2005
It’s time to begin thinking about SCA Board elections for the year 2006.  There are 4 very important positions that need to be filled: SCA Club Coordinator, Treasurer, Booster Representative, and Youth Coordinator.  The first step is nominations, then the registration of voters, and then the election procedure. All of this will be done via email and through the SCA website. We hope that all teams participate and help SCA find some great new board members.  Here are brief descriptions of the Board positions:

SCA Club Coordinator: This person oversees the operation of SCA. He or she will conduct SCA meetings, report to our home league and ensure that all SCA guidelines are followed.  This is a very important position as the coordinator also serves as an ambassador of SCA.
Treasurer: The treasurer keeps accurate records of all moneys related to the club and maintains checking accounts. This person prepares a budget for SCA and all necessary reports for our home league.
Booster Representative:  This person works with the community to seek financial support for SCA or club members through fundraising or sponsorships.
Youth Coordinator: The youth coordinator serves as liaison to the Board for the U9, U10 and U11 age groups. This person assists these age groups in the transition to class I play and provides support where needed.
Youth Coordinator: The youth coordinator serves as liaison to the Board for the U9, U10 and U11 age groups. This person assists these age groups in the transition to class I play and provides support where needed.

Nominations Accepted by Email until December 18th, 2005:

Anyone can nominate a person for a position on the board.  SCA will accept nominations until December 18th 2005.  Submit your nominations to SCA using the email address This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .  The person nominated will then be contacted and given the opportunity to provide a brief statement of why they are a good candidate for the position. The nominee’s statement will then be posted on the SCA website (www.scasoccer.com) until the election.  Anyone who is in bad standing with CYSA, the league and/or the club is not eligible to run.

Select 2 Voting Members Per Team:

Each SCA team will have 2 voting members.  At least one voting member must be an adult who is a credentialed member of the team through CYSA or USCLUB soccer.  This person is usually the manager. The other voting member can be any team parent who is interested.  These voters are representing their whole team and teams should give some consideration as to whom they select.  Coaches, Board members or team members who are currently being paid for services to SCA are not eligible to vote. Each team manager must then register their voting members through the SCA website by December 18th 2005. Failure to register will result in forfeiture to vote. A valid and unique email address is required for each voting member. All board members will automatically be registered to vote. However, if that person is representing a team, they are entitled to only one vote.

The Election!

Voting will occur during the week of January 8th through January 14th 2006.  The registered voters will make their choices for board candidates on the SCA website. Voters will enter their email address to validate their eligibility to vote.  An email receipt will be sent to the voter to indicate that the vote was recorded. The election is by secret ballot and is decided by who gets the most votes.  In case of a tie, a vote will be made by the SCA board to determine the outcome.

The SCA Webmaster will tally the votes on January 15th 2006 and submit preliminary results to the SCA Board of Directors and voting members.  The SCA Secretary will present the final results at the February Board meeting.  Thanks for your participation in this year’s elections.
