| SCA 97 Boys Black Create Quite a Scare at Boo Fest |

| The SCA 97 Boys Black played three exciting games at the Sacramento United Boo Fest over the weekend, winning two and losing the third in a penalty shootout. In the first game SCA won 3-2 against Real Madrid of Sacramento. The boys scored all of their goals in the first half and held on with great defense to win. In the second game SCA took a 3-1 lead into halftime only to see River City close the gap 3-2. It did not take long for SCA to score 2 quick goals to put the final score at 5-2. In the third and most exciting game of the weekend the score was 0-0 in regulation, 0-0 in overtime and 3-1 in the penalty shootout. The whole team played outstanding and took their game to the next level. Starting in the back Greg Thomas made several key saves including two diving stops: one to preserve a win, and one to send the third into overtime. Matt McFarlane at center defender was a key factor, putting the ball out of harms way all weekend. Julian Honey and Dean Gonzales dug in at outside defender and did a great job protecting the goal. Also playing outside mid was Jose Amador who played with intensity and heart, coming out of nowhere to stop numerous breakaways. Matt Saxton was key to the attack always pushing the ball forward. Ty Evenich gave the defenses fits using his dribbling skills to push the ball into the attacking halve. Jason Yim continues to be a force on the right side. Always attacking, Jason finished the weekend with 2 goals and 2 assists. Miles Gardea continues to strike fear into every defense he sees finishing the weekend with 6 goals. Patrick Garcia should be recognized for his valuable play all weekend. Patrick played like a center midfielder possessed. Showing super human stamina Patrick covered the pitch as though he had a twin on the field. Patrick had 1 goal and one assist. Great weekend SCA 97 Black! | |
