PRESS RELEASE On Tuesday, Sept. 27th, the Rohnert Park Soccer League Board of Directors voted not to renew the Memorandum of Understanding {MOU} with the Petaluma Youth Soccer League, for the purpose of supporting a Division 1 Club in 2006. As a result, the Sonoma County Alliance Soccer Club will have sole CYSA League affiliation with Petaluma Youth Soccer League (PYSL) for the 2006 playing season. The SCA Board of Directors is reviewing procedures for a smooth transition for its players and teams. SCA will continue as a Division 1 Club, seeking the best players in Southern Sonoma County for teams Under 9 through Under 19. As in the past, SCA welcomes players, not just from Petaluma, but also from neighboring communities such as Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, and Sonoma. Josh Sterling will continue as the Director of Coaching Josh and his staff of high-level professional coaches are committed to both player development and to great team success. They see a continuation of SCA as one of the best soccer leagues in Northern California with successes at local, state, regional, and even national competitions. Danny Ortega, a long time community volunteer, is the SCA Coordinator. He is supported by a volunteer Board of enthusiastic and committed parents. “While we will miss our association with RPSL, we expect a smooth transition to sole affiliation with PYSL,” said Danny. There has already been a consistent and cooperative relationship between SCA and PYSL. Members of both Boards have worked together in the past and share a vision for their players to develop and compete at all levels. RPSL will continue to support SCA throughout the remainder of the 2005 season, which will conclude with the last of SCA team's State Cup competitions. |
