Kayley Evans, currently a player on the SCA 92 Girls, gave a verbal commitment to Cal State Dominguez Hills in Southern California for the 2010 playing year. “It is a great honor for the team and the club to have two players commit to a Division II powerhouse that lost this season in the NCAA National Championship. Natalee Simon and Kayley should spend four great seasons together competing for a National title,“ said Josh Sterling, the coach of the 92 Girls. “Kayley came to the team from SRU this year and showed right away that she was a top defender. She was a big part of our success this season. She has unbelievable speed, great technique and a winning personality. She just needed to be showcased with similar players so the move to SCA was a good one for her. I am very proud of her. She made a big decision to change teams after 8+ years, but it paid off!” added Josh. To recap the SCA 92 girls team has players committed to or playing at the following colleges- Barry University, Sonoma State University, UC Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa JC (2), Cal Lutheran University, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, Southern Oregon, Cal State Dominguez Hills (2), and Loyola Marymount University. We are still waiting to hear from 4 seniors. The schools currently recruiting them are Dominican University, Western Oregon, Lewis and Clark, Saint Mary’s University, Claremont McKenna, San Francisco State, UC San Diego, Cal State Los Angeles, New York University and few others. Helping families during this phase of their soccer and scholastic career is a lot of fun. While coaching the SCA 88 girls, SCA 90 Girls and now the SCA 92 girls I have been fortunate enough to help close to 40 female players find a place in college soccer, but this last group has been extra special. It is important to know that a lot of credit should go to coaches like Vinnie Cortezzo, Trisha Ziemer, Trevor White and Rick Hewko who developed these players prior to this final phase. These coaches deserve a lot of credit for this accomplishment!” Josh added. The team has 6 very good juniors that will continue the recruiting success of this age group next year and should be joined by a talented SCA 94 girls team. |
