On July 5th and 6th SCA boys and girls teams participated in this fun and festive 6-a-side tournament at Sonoma State University. The small fields allowed for exciting high-scoring games and lots of touches for the players. Several of the team divided into 2 teams just for this tournament. The results were phenomenal. The 00 Girls North and the 96 Boys took 1st place, the 97 Girls took 1st and 2nd place, the 95 Girls took 2nd and 4th, the 94 Girls took 2nd and 3rd, the 94 Boys placed 2nd, the 92 Boys and the 97 Boys placed 3rd, and the 96 Boys took 4th place. The SCA staff had a few main objectives with this unique event and we wanted to take the time to put this event in perspective for everyone.
Objectives:
We had great team success with the U13B Champions, U15B 2nd place, U17B 3rd place, U9G North Champions, U12G Champions, U14G 2nd Place and U15G 2nd Place. There were also some concerns that were brought to our attention. The main concerns were:
We do feel that without a coach the players learn to problem solve and take responsibility in communication. We also know that by dividing the teams into multiple 6v6 teams it allowed for more playing time. These are important parts of our SCA Education process. As always, any further input is appreciated. Overall the SCA staff thought it was a great weekend of soccer. Thanks Josh Sterling
