The SCA 92 Girls, coached by Josh Sterling, won the US Club Soccer Regional Tournament in Modesto this past weekend. In the course of the 4-day tournament, they defeated the Cal Cougars 5-0, MVLA Storm 5-1, and tied Elk Grove in Group play. In the semifinals they defeated Cal Odyssey 3-1. In the Championship game they beat the San Juan Spirits 2-0. Coach Josh Sterling said, “The entire team played great. Every player contributed. The Regional Championship is very special and it is an honor to win it competing against some of the top Cal North teams. The scary thing is we still can play better!” The girls will move on from here to compete at the National Cup in Virginia Beach, VA on July 26th through 29th. The players on this team are Chaniece Azevedo, Theresa Devine, Taylor Gehring, Kirsten Hilbert, Lexus Humphry, Caroline Logan, Lizzie Mitchell, Kayla Reid, Danielle Stave, Jessica Heitman, Kirstin Holmberg, Melissa Madrid, May Pyne, Natalee Simon, and Carolyn Upton.
