LOOKING FOR A FUN WAY TO RAISE SOME MONEY?

GET READY, GET SET, FOR THE  HUMAN RACE 2008

One Community One Dream

The Human Race is a nationwide community fundraising event for nonprofit organizations.  Participating non-profit organizations receive 75% of monies collected and the Volunteer Center receives the remaining percentage to coordinate and stage the event.  SCA has participated in the Human Race for the last nine years, and has proven to be a successful way to allow players to raise funds for soccer expense with players benefiting from their participation.

Here are some comments from last year participants!

From Dan D. Lion “Human Race saved our marriage! With the money we raised from the Race for our daughters soccer team, I can now buy my wife a wedding ring!”

From:  Fanny B. Sore  “Wow!  We had so much fun running as a team!  All the players did such a great job – what a bonding experience for our new team!”

From:  Imma D. Best   “Human Race, what can I say about the best FUNdraiser (emphasis on Fun!) we have ever done!  And we raised money to offset the cost of our sextuplets teams!”

SONOMA COUNTY ALLIANCE 2008  HUMAN RACE INSTRUCTIONS

1.  STARTING NOW:  Carry your pledge sheet EVERYWHERE!!  As you secure pledges, also collect the money - it's easier than trying to collect afterward.  Checks should be made payable to THE HUMAN RACE.   Cash is accepted.  75% of your pledge money goes back to you via your team!

You may start collecting HR pledges even though you have not been placed on any team yet.  HR money can follow you to a Petaluma United or SCA team.  Once your team is formed, we will need a volunteer to act as your Team Human Race Coordinator.

2.  BEFORE race day:  make a copy of your pledge sheet for your own records.  Don’t forget to have a parent sign the permission to participate section, top left corner of the pledge sheet.

3.  RACE DAY:  bring the original pledge sheet only (keep copy to hand into your HR Coordinator later) to check in and to get a T-Shirt;  Check-in begins at 6:30 am and the race begins at 8:00 am.  Organize so your team can walk/run together;  You do not need to sign in if you are walking, only if want number for running the race and to have an official time.  IMPORTANT: DO NOT BRING ANY PLEDGE MONEY TO THE RACE - ANY MONEY TURNED IN TO THE VOLUNTEER CENTER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH YOUR HR COORDINATOR WILL NOT BE CREDITED TO AN INDIVIDUAL!!
After the race there are several booths that organizations set up.  You may want to bring some money for food, etc. if you feel the need.

4.  AFTER the race:  Turn in your money & pledge sheet to your Team Coordinator. There will be (3) deposits, the first team deposit must be in to Susan Gehring (via your Team Coordinator) by May 22 for the additional 10% "Incentive Fund" money, above and beyond the usual 75%.  Any pledge money turned in later will not be eligible for Incentive Fund dollars (10% more);  You may continue to collect pledges up until the last deposit date June 24th.
