SCA 92 Boys Win Ajax United Spring Invitational |

 On March 8th and 9th at the Ajax United Spring Invitational in Modesto, the SCA 92 Boys, coached by Neil Turnbull, demonstrated that hard work and grit can sometimes give almost instant gratification. The boys came ready to play and started the tournament with an 8-0 defeat over the Lodi Crushers. They then beat FC United 3-0. Sunday morning, Livermore United managed to squeak out a 2-1 victory, but SCA's earlier performance gave them more points and placed them in a hard-fought championship game against Ceres, the local favorites. SCA won 1-0 with a brilliantly played goal by Roberto Vargas and an SCA defense that was impenetrable despite repeated attempts by a very good side.
Goals were scored by Joe Alexander-Short (2), Daniel Amador, Steven Barahona, Nate Geoffrion, Dylan Howarth, Diego Jaramillo (2), Tommy Murphy, Wendell Scott, Roberto Vargas (2), and Sam Wallace. The strong defense was mounted by Kevin Phillips, Zack Taylor, David Tange, Dylan Howarth, Teo Pier, Alex Tarantino, Kevin Werckmann, and the goalie-Colin Page. The bottom line: How do you spell Championship? Teamwork.
