On January 9th at the Lucchessi Center, SCA celebrated the end of the season with its annual ice cream social and awards night for the U9-U13 age groups. It was a night to celebrate all the accomplishments of our players, coaches, teams, volunteers and parents. Each team was introduced with a brief summary of the season by their coach. Director of Coaching, Josh Sterling, believes “Events like this show the enthusiasm, club support and overall positive energy of SCA. I thought this year’s event was the best one so far.” Also during the awards ceremony, one member of each team was presented with the Alliance Award. This person is selected by their own teammates and is someone who best represents the Alliance virtues of: Attitude, Love of the Game, Leadership, Insight, Ability, Noble, Commitment, and Effort. This year’s winners are: Erin Murphy (U9 Girls), Sarah Willits (U10 Girls), Taylor Ziemer and Gabbi Lemos (a tie for the U11 Girls), Kayla Kimball (U12 Girls), Jenny Saxton (U13 Girls), David “Figo” Luis (U9 Boys), Tyler Guptil (U10 Boys), Devin Braehmer (U11 Boys), Shaq Burton and Darian Huerta (a tie for the U12 Boys), and James Del Curto (U13 Boys). In addition, one boy and one girl were selected by the Directors to receive the Alliance Award for the whole league. Those winners are James Del Curto and Jenny Saxton.. Congratulations to all of our SCA players and the Alliance Award winners who represent the best among an outstanding group of players! This year, the Boy’s Coach of the Year went to Matt Bernard and the Girl’s Coach of the Year went to Trevor White. Both coaches represent the very best of SCA in their hard work, spirit and love of the game. A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped at this wonderful event. A special thanks to Shawna Ziemer for all her efforts in organizing the event. |
