On November 17th and 18th, the SCA 99 Girls, coached by Shawn Rothrock, won 1st place in their division at the Norcal State Cup in Sacramento. After finishing first in their division from the preliminary rounds, they started strong in the State Cup round robin play with a 4-0 win over Novato. They then beat the Devils from the Alliance FC in Union City 2-0. They closed out Saturday with a tough 3-2 loss to Placer United. On Sunday they beat Novato in the semis 2-0, and then rallied to avenge their earlier loss to Placer and beat them in overtime, 2-1 to win it all. The outstanding defense all weekend was led by Camryn Howard at goalie, Markie McHugh, Sally Ziemer, Kelly D'Ambrogia and Kayla Kuper. Offensive pressure was applied by Lauren Miller, Caitlyn Wood & Claire Saboeon the left side. Tera Ziemer and Emma Wynkoop on the right side, and Erin Murphy and Gracie Thomas, who scored the golden goal in the final, in the middle. Look for Shawn Rothrock to be sporting a new hairstyle as a result of his team's victory. He told the girls he would color it or cut it if they won - the girls said to cut it.
