|
Saturday, 07 July 2007 |
On June 22nd through the 24th, the SCA 97 boys, coached by Matt Bernard, made it to the Semi-finals at Cal Cup in Sacramento. The first game of the weekend started off well with a 2-0 win against Lamorinda. Their second game was hard fought but Elk Grove got the winning goal off of a lucky corner kick just over our goalie’s head. The game ended in a 2-1 loss for us. The third game was against the Portuguese Athletic Club and all the boys played hard and battled throughout the entire game but lost. Then SCA advanced into the Quarterfinals as a wild card. They played against MDSL Blue Lighting and won with a shut out of 3-0. The boys met Elk Grove again in the Semi-finals looking to win. All the boys played their best including, Ali Daito, Charlie Walker, Dakota Iribarne, Devin Braehmer, Gabriel Went, Greg Thomas, Jason Yim, Joshua Poinsett, Landen Gozashti. Matt Saxton, Mautty Lopez-Parra, Mike Devincenzi, Noah Paravicini, Rafael Helguera, Simon Lindsay, and Tony Lopez, Also a great thank you to Logan Ziemer for being a guest player for our team that weekend. The weekend ended with Elk Grove going to the finals and the 97 boys team went home with the feeling of accomplishment for making it into the Semi's.
