Sonoma County Alliance is proud to announce that Kai Edwards has accepted the head assistant job for the women’s soccer program at the University of California Santa Barbara. Edwards, a Sonoma State graduate, has been apart of SCA for the past few years as a coach and trainer. Edwards had been excited about expanding his role in SCA this year, but now he will be recruiting athletes into the Big West division. “SCA is a well organized club and its players and teams are and will continue to compete at the top level in NorCal soccer.” Edwards was a volunteer assistant at Western Washington University for two years and is currently the Women’s assistant at Sonoma State University and Casa Grande High School Girls Varsity Coach. “I’m very excited about this next step in my journey as a coach. SCA has provided a great opportunity for me to develop as a coach. I hope to be able to open some doors for SCA athletes in the Big West.” SCA Director of Coaching Josh Sterling states, “Kai has worked hard over the past few years to make this step. I am happy for him. Being a head assistant at a Division 1 school is a good next step for Kai.” Sterling also said, “When we have as many great coaches in SCA and with our club’s emphasize to continued coaching education, it is natural for them to move on to jobs outside of SCA. We should be proud. We are fortunate that we have many of our top coaches with strong roots to this area. These coaches will most likely remain with the club for many years”
