Club Survey Results: Tony shared the results of the second survey which overall show improvement from the Fall Survey. The results showed much satisfaction re Coaches’ Evaluations. Club Communication showed an improvement. The Academy received a “good” rating; Josh and his coaches appreciate parents’ input and will take those concerns and positive remarks into account as they plan for upcoming Academy. The number of surveys submitted was 89 out of 250 club members. It was suggested that the surveys be distributed in another manner, and that incentives be given, in order to obtain greater response. Teams’ participation in survey ranged from 0 – 90%. Perhaps in the future, team reps could be instrumental in achieving greater participation from teams. SCA AWARDS NIGHT: Ice cream social and awards presentation will take place on Monday, February 21, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the 4-H Center, 6445 Commerce Blvd., in Rohnert Park. Awards will be presented to U-10 through U-14s. Seven teams placed in league – quite an accomplishment! TEAM FINANCIAL REPORTS: Kathi will reconcile January, and distribute reports this week. Contact Kathi if report doesn’t seem accurate in reflecting current status. DIRECTOR OF COACHING REPORT: Josh reported on Celtic Cup, State Cup and NorCal Premiere Cup. Three teams (both U-11G and the U-12G) attended – U-11G went onto championship and placed second. State Cup: U-12G advancing to “sweet 16.” NoCA Premiere: U-11G won the Silver Division; U-13G won the Gold Division. Watch for upcoming article in Press Democrat on SCA and Santa Rosa United – article spotlights the bright future of SCA. Some teams will have “play-dates” (not mandatory) in preparation for try-outs. Talent Day: will be held February 23rd for younger age groups; teams encouraged to attend . More information on this available on website. NOR CAL LEAGUE: The biggest complaint about the league was its lack of coordination and communication. For upcoming season there’s a set schedule for times and fields. Each team should plan on hosting one to three days of games. League begins April 17th. Dave Derby is the SCA liaison. TRYOUTS: begin on Wednesday, February 27th in Rohnert Park – U11& 12s from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. and U13 and 14s – 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Tryout announcements were mailed for these age groups; U-15 to 19s will be mailed soon. PYSL United & RPSL Reports: Andrew Ziemer has been named the Director of Training for PYSL-United. United is hoping to field 12 teams. Class III coaches will be at competitive tryouts of help ensure that players play at their own appropriate level. CORPORATE SPONSOR for T-Shirts and Practice Balls: SCA is in search of a sponsor for practice tees and balls. Sponsor amount is $5, 000 – for one sponsor, or this amount can be divided among two – three sponsors. Those who know of potential sponsors should contact Danny. UNIFORMS: Kim Behen is the new uniform coordinator. Goalie jerseys need to be returned as soon as the team’s season is finished. Jerseys may not be worn for indoor soccer team play. TEAM CONCERNS: 1) Re play-ups – this is a Director of Coaching decision. 2) When a coach has dual teams and there is a scheduling challenge, coaches will rely on the registered manager to make sure all team needs are met. 3) Re SCA playing time philosophy, every player should receive 1/3 game playing time during league play. 4) Some teams expressed concern about the limited number of returning players. Next SCA Board Meeting is Monday, March 14, 2005 in the Meadow School Library or Room #6 at 7 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Stephanie Derby |
