SCA Meeting Minutes for March 13, 2006
Monday, 24 April 2006


All board members present except Pete H. and Dana T.

I.  New Meeting Place (Bank of the West) to begin late May – exceptions will be May 8, July 10, and Sept. 11 meetings which have alternate meeting place (Meadow School???)

II.  Referees:  suggestion to have new referees attend practices.  The mentoring program idea has been well received.  Need to utilize and encourage current referees.

III.  U12B:  Terry reported on the team’s year-end financial situation. 


IV.  SCA P.O. Box – rental agreement is being renewed; bill needs to be paid.

V.  Petaluma United: draft was last Thursday; challenge with coaches’ communication.

VI.  DOC Report:  younger teams have been formed.  First year for Div. 1 & 3 tryouts – all United/SCA coaches and coordinators have met to revisit process.
    Older tryouts:  field decision being finalized – TBA.  
    90B won tourney – won in golden goal
    16G – 3rd in tourney
    State Cup – specifics are on website
PYSL Budget Meeting:  PYSL will subsidize U9-10 program.  They will provide Player Assistance with $2500 and will match up to $4000 that goes to Player Assistance from SCA.  Lucchesi lighting fee will be $1750 (increase of $750).  Winter League – PYSL capping at $500 – if fee is more, teams are responsible.  Note:  U-14 may not be covered for next year.

Club Program Changes for Next Year:  Combined goalie trainings & SCA camps/drop-in days are included in fees;  coaches’ salaries have been increased;  U-15and older program fees will be posted on the website this week.

Team Meetings/Registration:  U11-12 (Wednesday) and U13-14 (Tues.) – Wednesday help needed.

Human Race/SCA KOA Day:  Saturday, May 13th – fliers available at registration – BBQ and family picnic activities – community builder event.

Joint Competitive Club Meeting:  PYSL has requested a meeting to discuss relationship between organizations, and to improve cooperation between SCA & United.  Tony will attend with two other board members (TBD).

Petaluma United Player Draft Procedure in Cooperation with SCA:  presently forming Div. 3 teams.
Congratulations to U19G – Div. IV- Tide Cup champions.

PYSL Referee Class:  DATES:  April 3 – 12 (5 days – 18 hours) – days and times will be on website.  Class is free to SCA & United players and families.  Older players encouraged to participate.  Referees are needed!  Referee pay increase to $40-center, $25 AR.  Bonuses for referees when they’ve reffed a certain number of games.  Mentoring program for new referees will be implemented.

NorCal:  Spring league for youngers begins April 8th and will go to mid-June.  Possible BYE for 5/13 so we can all participate in Human Race.  About half of games should be played AT HOME.  Older registration is presently taking place.

U.S. Club Registrar NEEDED:  contact Terry Catton (position has been filled by Staci Elliott)

Current Team Treasurers are encouraged to continue for another season.

SSU/SCA Fundraiser:  The Board approved fundraiser chair, David Rabbitt’s move to partner with SSU by selling raffle tickets for a SCION TC? to be raffled off on May 6th.  Teams or individuals may sell the tickets which are $10 each - $2 goes to administration, $8 to team or individual players.

Player Sponsor Checks:  if players secure a Player Assistance sponsor, checks must be made out to SCA (be sure to make a copy of the check) and we’ll submit to PYSL as they will match the funds.

Player Assistance Report:  possibility of “Restaurant of the Month” fundraisers, matching funds from PYSL, “Kickin’ Chicken concessions.  Gina M. has translated this information and will distribute it to families.  Gina is also the contact for individual fundraising, NOT just player assistance.  Contact her if you wish to sell See’s Candy.  Gina raised $126 from the snack bar at tryouts-thanks, Gina!

Fields:  Casa Grande High School may get synthetic fields.  Meeting for fields discussion will be March 15th at Lucchesi. 

Fundraising Ideas:  SCA brochure needs to be designed to present to potential sponsors such as Saturn.  Fall fundraiser is being planned by Jane Rabbitt.
